Specialty Massages

All of our therapists have extensive training and experience with Swedish, Deep Tissue and Myofascial Massage Therapy.
In addition we have all taken continuing education training in areas of particular interest to us.

If you go to the drop down menus under services you will get lots of info on each service we provide. If your device does not display our drop down menus you can see a brief description of some of the different specialty modalities we offer including Ashiatsu, Prenatal Massage, Hot/Cold Stones and Thai Herbal Ball Therapy below.

Ashiatsu DeepFeet Bar Therapy™

Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy™  is a barefoot massage technique using deep compression effleurage strokes that glide over the body. Gravitational force is combined with centrifugal and centripetal movements. This creates a structural change in chronic soft tissue damage.  Correct application will provide deep relaxation and stimulate the lymphatic system of the body.  Ceiling bars are used to support and balance the therapist and lubricant is applied to the body.

Please read this info carefully and make note of the contraindications listed below. If you schedule an appointment and Christine feels Ashi is not appropriate for you, she will provide a regular deep tissue session. We are taking these precautions to avoid client injury because the depth and style of pressure are different for Ashiatsu. With clear and precise communication, Christine will arrive at a compression level that is therapeutic for each client. She will confirm that you understand the nature of the technique and that you do not have preexisting conditions that should prevent you from having a session. We also ask that you give immediate feedback during the session to avoid any discomfort.

This work is known as "The Deepest, Most Luxurious Massage on the Planet" so we're sure you will enjoy it!

Ashiatsu should not be received if any of the  following circumstances are present: Pregnant or trying to get pregnant, Breast implants within 9 months, Boils, skin lesions or abscesses, varicose veins, Recent eye procedures/ Lasik surgery within 72 hours, Tuberculosis, thrombosis, aneurysm, kidney disorders, recent bowel or hernia surgery, Any acute inflammatory conditions such as active phlebitis/ cellulitis, Persons on Coumadin, Lovenox, Heparin or heavy aspirin, Uncontrolled high blood pressure or heart condition, pacemaker, stent or shunt, Rib fracture, osteoporosis in advance stage, Any recent (acute) injuries or surgeries

We have funds for free sessions if necessary. Travel expense, new client fee and gratuity are included so $80 is the total charge.

We also offer a massage workshop, in Rockville homes or at our office, for caregivers and family members. Traditional Thai Massage (also called Thai Yoga Massage)

Our Thai Massage training is in the lineage of The Thai Institute of Healing Arts. Thai massage is performed on a mat with the recipient fully clothed in comfortable, yoga style clothes. Energy pathways are opened and the body is stretched to the level of comfort of the participant. Client must be able to lie on a soft mat on the floor. "Thai massage blends point pressure and stretching benefiting those who find themselves stiff, sore, and tired from over-exertion in work or sports, or from arthritis or other debilitating diseases. Thai massage enhances strength and flexibility, relaxes sore or tense muscles, and can help to recapture lost range of motion. By encouraging lymphatic function, this traditional massage can also detoxify the body, heighten the immune system, and prevent disease and/or injury by promoting flexibility."

Thai Herbal Ball Therapy

Sa-Wan Herbal Ball Therapy can be added to your session for $20.00. The Luk Pra Kob, translated from Thai as pressing herbal sphere,or Herbal Ball, is a method of treatment employed in traditional Thai medicine. It is used to provide the same type of stimulation as acupressure along energy channels, known as Sen Sib lines in Thailand. The herbal ball treatment is usually a hot treatment. The herbs used are anti-inflammatory in nature and work well for tight, achy muscles. We purchase herbal balls from Sa-Wan ,who imports them under strict quality guidelines, from Thailand.

Prenatal/Post-natal Massage (Referred to as Peri-natal on our scheduling page)

If you are pregnant, you should have massage from a therapist who is trained to understand the changes that occur in the body with pregnancy. Christine is certified through the Kate Jordan program. They can adapt positioning using a hydrolic massage table and a variety of cushions and supports. They are also aware of endangerment areas and specific strokes for side affects you may be experiencing.

After delivery, Christine can help you manage the changes that pregnancy causes in your body and help you get back to feeling like yourself.
